MECHANICAL/PLUMBING SYSTEMS DESIGNER POSITION

 

LSW Engineers Arizona, Inc. is a consulting engineering firm specializing in the design of mechanical, plumbing, electrical and technology systems with a 70+ year history of providing reliable and energy efficient design solutions for various building types, such as educational, medical, institutional, mission critical, aviation, and commercial buildings. We are currently seeking mechanical engineers for our mechanical department in our Phoenix, Arizona office. Description:

Perform as a critical design team member in project management and mechanical/plumbing systems development and coordination for construction design projects. This position requires interaction with the firm’s project team members (designers and engineers from the mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and technology systems disciplines), as well as architects, consultants, clients, and contractors to identify project requirements, develop engineering concepts, present options, and recommendations in order to meet the project requirements.  This position also requires project management skills such as coordinating workflows and deliverables, and instructing younger staff members.  Demonstrate a trustworthy presence through your professionalism, demeanor, and technical knowledge.

 

Responsibilities:

Apply strong technical design skills and knowledge to produce accurate and timely project deliverables. Support project requirements with client interface, field investigation, basis of design narratives, development of mechanical/plumbing construction design documents that comply with all applicable codes and standards, review submittals, and support the project through construction completion. Responsibilities will include:

  • Design projects in Revit and AutoCAD for compliance with city, state, and national building codes, compliance with owner standards, and industry construction standards. (ASHRAE, NFPA, IBC, LEED, etc.)

  • Provide design information and effectively delegate work to production support staff as applicable.

  • Provide a leadership role to share your knowledge with other design staff.

  • Meet with and interact with clients and project stakeholders.

  • Communicate with manufacturers and contractors to stay abreast of the latest trends and mechanical/plumbing systems technology.

  • Coordinate and perform construction administration tasks internally & externally, enabling a successful project outcome.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent skills designing mechanical/plumbing systems. The following list are minimum knowledge and skills standards: 

    • Trane Trace load calculations, HVAC system equipment layouts, Understanding of HVAC controls, Understanding of plumbing system equipment, piping layout, & fixtures.

  • Working knowledge of current versions of Revit and AutoCAD.

  • Experience in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry.

  • Ability to apply logic, reasoning, and organizational skills to structure concepts & ideas into deliverables.

  • Working knowledge of COMcheck, Excel, OneNote, Word, etc.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work well within a team structure.

  • Ability to learn & grow professionally.

  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic.
